What can you do with your camera tonight
38,4s F6,3 ISO200 16mm
Part 1. Accessories for night shooting.
1. I prefer body with wide-angle lens. Also need a tripod. I have two: big one and small (max height is 50cm). Brush and airflow bulb always are in my photobackpack. Remote control for camera. And a couple of torches.
I can say that none of the above devices is not necessary, because yiu can easily skip each of them or replace with something else.
2. In order to create freezelight, you need any source of light. There are some exaples of my equipment:
Part 2. Examples of night shooting
First of all, it is shooting of sky and stars.
3. The way of stars. You may need a remote control to get such photo. You can set exposure time, pause between shots and their quantity with remote control. I set 25s, 1s pause and 120-180 shots. After all the shots could be stacked in one image in Photoshop or in specialized application, for example Startrails:
Each shot: 25s F5,6 ISO100 17mm
4. Now another variant. To get the stars as points, you need rather short shutter speed (the Number 600 or better 500 divided by the focal length of the lens for full frame camera):
30s F4 ISO1250 17mm
5. To illustrate the short and long exposure, see these two photos:
Here the shutter speed is 1/5s:
1/5s F5 ISO2500 16mm
6. Here the shutter speed is 25s:
25s F7,1 ISO400 16mm
Следующее, что может придти в голову — рисование светом. Для этого можно использовать различные светодиодные источники света и их комбинации. Все зависит от вашей фантазии.
Next thing that comes to mind is lightpainting. To do this, you can use any LED light sources and their combinations. It all depends on your imagination.
7. Rotate multi-colored LEDs on the wire:
30s F6,3 ISO320 16mm
8. I just draw with torch:
30s F4,5 ISO320 17mm
9. Draw with fiber optic:
51,4s F6,3 ISO200 16mm
10. I glued six LEDs on a stick and move it along the contour:
30s F7,1 ISO250 16mm
11. Using of steel wool:
30s F6,3 ISO320 16mm
12. Just remember that it has a high burning temperature and you can easily get a burn if it gets on your skin.
30s F5,5 ISO250 16mm
13. Using candles as light sources looks good inside natural objects:
30s F5,5 ISO250 19mm
14. Use of ambient light sources anf long exposure (from outside of the street). In reality nothing could be seen there:
30s F3,2 ISO2500 17mm
15.
16. One but very strong natural source:
30s F4,5 ISO500 17mm
17. Here I used headlamp units of the car from the opposite side:
30s F5 ISO800 16mm
18. Fog helps to visualize the beam, especially if the flashlight is not very strong:
10s F5,6 ISO200 16mm
19. You can take a photo of the same place at different times of the year, different times of the day, and combine them. There will be interesting final image:
20.
21. I use tripod very often:
22. Here I have not enough powerful torch:
6s F6,3 ISO200 16mm
23. You can climb somewhere to get pretty night views:
120s F8 ISO400 16mm
24. If you want to capture the last reflections of sunset, the exposure must be reduced, otherwise all sunset beauty will be overexposed:
30s F7,1 ISO500 210mm
25. There is not enough light at sunrise, so tripod will also be useful in the early morning:
26. You can go underground, there is also something interesting. Here is the combination of natural light (left) and lights (from front and rear):
27. Two torches were used and the shutter speed was 30 seconds: :
28. Shutter speed should be short (about 1/15s) and ISO should be high to capture the game of reflected light on the ceiling:
29. An example of using a powerful torch - shutter speed was so short that it was possible to shoot without tripod:
30. Using the backlight:
20s F6,3 ISO200 16mm
31. Zoom effect. To get it, you should set the shutter speed to 1-5 seconds and during shooting rotate the zoom ring:
32. Both fiery and LED:
33.
34. And about concert shooting. It is always not enough of light there. But singer always moves so shutter speed should be set rather short (about 1/60). It must be compensated with wide aperture and high ISO:
1/250s F5 ISO2000 150mm
